Artist block. No more blank canvas syndrome
[av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=”]
Artist block? Nonsense, you’ve forgotten how to play!
Ever stared at a blank canvas or paper and had one of those Artist Blocks? Wondering where to start? The new, blank, what-do-I-do-here playground stares at you with it’s daring and glaring white space! Not on my watch – no way! To rid myself of artist block or any fear of beginning I play games. Games are far less scary. Be gone artist block I say!
If you are not willing to risk the unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary. – Jim Rohn
If you can think of what to create, start by creating games and challenges that will inspire and excite! Unblock your artist block with a beginning…
Hand lettering is a new and complimentary avenue I’m exploring. As a forced discipline I decided to join the latest attractive hashtag, #The100DayChallenge. I chose hand lettering. If you join in, you can chose anything you like. That ought to get rid of any artist block.
Why not explore a fun 100 day challenge for yourself? You don’t need to be on social media even. It is funny how something new can be a little intimidating but so much fun! Challenges are especially for new things and always excite me. Who cares if you miss a day here or there? No pressure and no artist block once you start either. I’m going to try for every day (I might sneak a few back ups in my sketchbook just in case). I am posting my flops and success because the idea is to explore and practice and not worry about the outcome. In over 100 days surely something worth while will become of this challenge. I’m pretty happy with my ART pallet effort. That is also for an assignment I’ll share later.
Have courage my friends and go pick a little challenge for yourself? Say no today to artist block. Let that be your past fear.
What might be your fun challenge for 100 days? I’d love to know!

This one was an epic fail but I cleaned it up as best as I could. I had used old printer ink to my detriment. In over an hour and after several tissues of blotting like crazy I had to finish with a dryer. It smudged and my lettering isn’t great – oh well, I completed another day of the challenge.
