WEEKLY ART TUITION 2024
YOUR TUTOR
Kayleen West is a multi-media contemporary artist with traditional educational background.
With an appreciation of both realism and the abstract, or combinations of both, she enjoys different mediums either dedicated to artwork exclusively, for preliminary work or in combination on final pieces. Forever pushing boundaries and exploration for excitement and growth.
ART & AUTHENTIC GROWTH
There is an immense value art is to an individual emotionally and mentally, and importance when preserving the joy of creating authentically whilst growing skills. Art can be the most fulfilling area of oneโs life and should be valued as we are valued. It is an investment into our well being and ability to express ourselves better.
ART CLASSES
Art classes to run in a workshop style to ensure students maximise their potential, strengthen weaker areas and explore new areas for confident growth, in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
Self-paced and individually monitored tutoring in line with mentorship rather than an absolute teaching style. Students will be encouraged to grow in knowledge and skill but through processes or subjects that speak to them, developing their individual style over time.
Speaking through art is a topic rarely explored enough but a major part of the joy which propels a productive art practice โ whether novice or professional.
The goal is for you to create art that speaks to your heart and so others who need to feel that same voice of expression.

We not be a “Master of none”
It’s not the variety of mediums we try that prevents us mastering anything, it is all the times we didn’t try. The more we action and learn, the more we master.

FAQs
Why do you teach instead of spending more time on your own art?
Art has, and will always be a communal activity. Though I love my alone time, I get a thrill from encouraging others to new heights and overcoming hurdles in their own creative journey. When I see my students faces shine with excitement or ah hah moments – that is the best feeling!
You work in so many mediums but what do you prefer?
Oil has always been my very favourite because of the versatility it offers and the “feeling’ of buttery paint. Pastel is a close second and has a quality oil does not. It captures light is such a illuminating way! Other mediums like gouache, acrylic, watercolour, ink and drawing mediums act as support mediums. I enjoy them all at different times, for different reasons and all have their place in my studio.
I’d like to get host you for an art event coming up. Do you travel for workshops or speaking events? Is that something you do?
I LOVE art events, running workshop, speaking on panels and just about anything educational that encourages others. Obviously it is a paid gig. feedback has always been positive. I give good value and can travel within reason in my car, but need to fly long distances. Email me anything you have in mind.
I am just a beginner and not sure if I can even paint! Can you teach me?
I work with people who have zero knowledge about painting, through to exhibiting artists looking to fill gaps or get direction, professionals and teachers. My favourite students are those who are humble and eager to learn at any level. Often new artists are void of misinformation which is helpful for us both.
