Illustrated Faith. Illustrated Vision – Tiny Arrows and Hidden Darts
The following illustrated faith message was created from a recent powerful vision. As it would happen my church was about to deliver a them on the “Broken Arrow”. This image now had an urgency on it to become one of my illustrated faith drawings – at least. It seemed God had a timestamp on it. Something I am learning the importance of more in this season.
My illustrated faith is usually seeded earlier. While I never know what is going to go down on paper until I see a vision or part of one, God often speaks to me about the same thing about a week earlier. I’ll sit in church, listening to a message and think to myself Ah, there it is – just as God showed me this week! It’s so exciting. I’m sure it is his playful side bringing some fun into my week. I love him dearly for that!
This vision wasn’t in church or during worship. It was a random vision. It was one of those “Hey guess what – I want to show you something” moments. Coincidentally it came to me about a week before I was asked to share something that may be relevant to the upcoming theme. You would think it would have been obvious, but I dismissed it initially as it wasn’t on paper yet.
I fell ill and was too unwell to put together the display I thought was requested. To cut a long story short, I ended up with the grace time to finish it. As the space wasn’t what I was initially offered, I only needed one small thing to add to their already full display.
Now enough about how it happened. The best part is what God showed me and I can now tell you about it!
Illustrated Faith – Tiny Arrows
As the metaphorical curtain rolled back on the Father’s scene I was truly taken back. There He stood, the Father towering like a mountain over a tiny person. This person held in their left hand a few small arrows. Initially, I thought they were tiny twigs.
The Lord impressed on me that these “tiny harmless arrows” were not harmless and not to be ignored. They were residue of offense from repetitive attacks on this very tired and long-suffering person. This person was a graceful, forgiving person but still in their hand were a few small offenses.
God spoke, commanding, “LAY DOWN YOUR ARROWS. GIVE THEM TO ME”.
The person obediently dropped the arrows and bowed humbly before God. The very moment they touched the ground, I saw God as the trinity move into action. Jesus was the face of both the father and the son and the Holy Spirit wings from their shoulders.
With raised hands, God stretched out both arms at once with great force. It looked like he was thrusting his power to either side of the universe. I saw waves, wind and lightening move as his hands extended. It was like the whole of earths weather was picked up in his one motion. His hair was surrounded by a main of fire as I was reminded of the lion of Judah. Later while working on the illustration, I saw a very long train on his royal garment; a garment of historic and unstoppable victory!
Then I noticed invisible fiery arrows I hadn’t seen earlier. They appeared caught up in the storm, hurled and snapped in his motion. The arrows had been aimed at this person (sent from the enemy) and God seemed to move because of the humility and obedience of this man or woman.
I heard God announce, “AS FAR AS THE EAST IS AND THE WEST, I REMOVE THESE!”
About a week later I stumbled on Psalm 103:12 which I assume the lord was referring to:
“AS FAR AS THE EAST IS FROM THE WEST, SO FAR HAS HE REMOVED OUR TRANSGRESSIONS FROM US.
I never know where to find anything in the bible, so grateful for God’s help putting all the pieces together.
I knew he was showing me how important forgiveness was – every tiny last drop of it! I was also reminded of his majesty with such a demonstration of power. His majesty in our vulnerability. It is difficult to illustrate such importance and power, but I hope this sketch gives you an idea. I want to paint it and attempt to do it justice.
After seeing this I made every effort to turn the cheek to offense and pray if I had any issue with anything. I truly believe we are in a time of fine-tuning our faith and the is a call to consecrate ourselves daily.
One day Christ will return for a church without spot or blemish. Although there is much grace for what we can’t do there is also a call into holiness. I for one, want to be sure he is pleased with how I “follow” him. I want my illustrated faith to honour him and help you. But I am so glad he does the heavy lifting for me and is so patient! Oh, and he can break my arrows anytime! Those darts hurt!
I pray my illustrated faith this speaks to you and you carry away a seed of encouragement and direction.
I would love to hear from you too. Testimonies are wonderful to share in the body and the world. Email me anytime to share. I love seeing the ripple effect in the kingdom right now. I’m so glad you are part of a pond of his goodness I dwell in.

Update: The illustration was discovered at the time of uploading by our pastor. The message was the same as what God was showing him for his team. The illustration was used with permission for a teaching and Voices of Fire evening at the church. That’s God for you!
